PHYSICIANS
THOMAS C. NILSSON, M.D.
Thomas C. Nilsson, M.D. has practiced at Midwest Allergy and Asthma Clinic, P.C. since 1980. A native of Nebraska, Dr. Nilsson received his Doctor of Medicine from UNMC, where he also completed Residency in Internal Medicine. Dr. Nilsson completed a Fellowship in Allergy and Clinical Immunology at the National Jewish Hospital and Research Center (currently National Jewish Health) in Denver, Colorado.

Dr. Nilsson is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Allergy and Clinical Immunology. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology and a Fellow of the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology. He is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine and Assistant Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

Dr. Nilsson treats patients ranging from preschool to adults of all ages. For several years, he has given presentations in The Management of Acute Allergic Reactions-Anaphylaxis and The Acute and Chronic Care of Asthma through the Family Practice Review Course at UNMC. As a physician who enjoys patient care, his goal is to help patients understand their allergic condition and partner in successful management of their allergies and asthma.


JEFFREY S. NELSON, M.D.
Jeffrey S. Nelson, M.D. has practiced at Midwest Allergy and Asthma Clinic, P.C. since 1993. He is currently an Adjunct Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Creighton University School of Medicine and a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC), both in Omaha, Nebraska.

Dr. Nelson is a native of Nebraska. He received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Dr. Nelson completed Pediatric Residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City Iowa, where he also completed a combined Fellowship in Allergy/Immunology and Pediatric Pulmonology.

Dr. Nelson is certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners, American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Pediatrics Sub-Board of Pediatric Pulmonology. He is a member of the following organizations:

Dr. Nelson's practice encompasses the treatment of patients of all ages, ranging from infants through the entire adult age spectrum. The focus of these trials has been on inhaled beta-agonists, aerosol therapy and inhaled steroids for the treatment of asthma.


GEORGE A. ZIEG, M.D.
George A. Zieg, M.D. has specialized in the care of allergies and asthma since 1993. He joined Midwest Allergy and Asthma Clinic, P.C. (MAAC) in 1995. Dr. Zieg practiced as a Pediatrician at Kaiser Permanente Urgent Care Center in Denver, Colorado for two years and was formerly a medical technologist at Saint Joseph's Hospital Pathology Department in Omaha, Nebraska.

Dr. Zieg is a native of Nebraska. He received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. He completed Residency in General Pediatrics at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa, before attending Fellowship in Pediatric Allergy/Immunology at the National Jewish Center for Immunology and Respiratory Medicine (currently National Jewish Health) in Denver, Colorado.

Dr. Zieg is certified by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology, National Board of Medical Examiners, and the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. He was certified by the American Board of Pediatrics from 1991 through 1998.

JAINE BROWNELL, M.D.
Jaine Brownell, M.D. has been in practice at Midwest Allergy and Asthma Clinic, P.C. since 2004.

She received her Doctor of Medicine from Creighton University in 1998. She completed a four-year Residency in the combined fields of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. She subsequently completed a Fellowship in Allergy/Immunology at Creighton in 2004. Dr. Brownell is a native of Wyoming.

Dr. Brownell is certified by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology, National Board of Medical Examiners, American Board of Pediatrics and is Board-Eligible for certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

EBRAHIM SHAKIR, M.D.
Ebrahim Shakir, M.D. joined Midwest Allergy and Asthma Clinic, P.C. in August 2011.

Dr. Shakir received his Doctor of Medicine from Creighton University School of Medicine where he received the Gold Humanism Award in 2005. Since then, he has completed a Residency in Pediatrics and a Fellowship in Allergy & Immunology at Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Wisconsin completing them in 2008 and 2010 respectively. Dr. Shakir was born in Kansas but raised in a suburb of Chicago.

Dr. Shakir is certified by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology and the American Board of Pediatrics.

BOB MIYAKE, M.D.
Bob Miyake, M.D. joined Midwest Allergy and Asthma Clinic, P.C. in August 2011. Prior to pursing his medical career Dr. Miyake worked as a food microbiologist and environmental chemist.

Dr. Miyake completed his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Nevada School of Medicine in Reno, Nevada where he received the Outstanding Student in Internal Medicine Award in 2004. He completed his residency in Rochester, New York at the University of Rochester Medical Center. Dr. Miyake then went on to the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics to complete a Fellowship in Allergy/Immunology. Dr. Miyake is a native of Idaho and is also fluent in conversational Japanese.

Dr. Miyake is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and also by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. Dr. Miyake treats patients ranging from preschool to adults of all ages.

NURSE PRACTITIONER
COLLEEN E. SHORT, APRN-NP
Colleen E. Short, APRN-NP joined the practice at Midwest Allergy and Asthma Clinic, P.C. in 2009. Born in Omaha, Colleen graduated from Clarkson College with a BSN in 1991 and has worked as a registered nurse in a variety of settings. Colleen completed her MSN degree from Clarkson College and became certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2007. Colleen is also certified by the National Asthma Educator Certification Board.

Colleen is a member of the following organizations:

Colleen treats patients ranging in age from infants to adults of all ages. As a Nurse Practitioner with a love for asthma and allergy patients, Colleen enjoys being able to take the time that is needed to teach her patients about their disease process and treatment plan.
